BEAUTIFUL EVERYDAY

I create work based on integrity and craftmanship. Each piece is an original, printed by hand, onto quality materials with the utmost of care.

Short print runs mean that editions come in a large range of exquisite colours and that specific colour-ways can often be negotiated upon request.

RECENT WORK

M i d - c e n t u r y   E c c e n t r i c

Inspiration is eclectic but often domestic. Early English ceramics, early to mid centrury fine art prints, a host of printed ephemera and objet d 'art, as well as curios from the natural world inspire me; creating unlikely alliances which surprise and delight.

Voynich Dandies

Spring/Summer 2017

A decorative and dandyish design to enhance your home.

Based on a combination of Staffordshire 'flatbacks' and stylised drawings of flowers inspired by the marvelous and mysterious medieval Voynich manuscript.

Hand printed onto both acid free Canaletto paper and pure linen to create limited edition prints and soft furnishings.

Linoleum print block 43cm X 43cm approx.

Fancy Dog

Spring/Summer 2017

A dog that should definitely be allowed on the sofa!

Another homage to the delights of working class Victorian ornaments.

This charming fellow cuts a dash set against a patterned background of my own invention.

A two part, two colour lino print.

To be an edition on Canaletto paper as well as hand printed cushions on natural pure Russian Linen.

Linoleum print block 43cm X 43cm approx.

The Brothers' Garden

Spring/Summer 2017

A closer look at the English garden reveals real beauty.

A chance find in a second hand book shop in Lyme Regis inspired this print.

Details from the lesser known John Bewick are combined with those inspired by Thomas Bewick, in a print which is in turns an homage to the early wood engravers and the English Garden.

Linoleum print block 43cm X 43cm approx.

To be editioned on Acid free Canaletto and applied to linen for lamps and cusions.

Standing Stones

Spring/Summer 2017

A bold repeat pattern with modernist sensibilities.

Inspired in part by the work of mid century print-maker Geoffrey Wales.

This print explores the many beautiful rhythms found within the granite boulders of the Cornish landscape.

Seven Sea's

Spring/Summer 2017

Seven Seas inspired by seven different artists.

A print which pays homage to the Artists own vision and shear inventiveness in trying to capture this ever changing body.

This amalgamation of visual language generates its own cohesive rhythms and qualities.

After: Unknown medieval European Artist, Durer, Hiroshige, Bewick, Nolde, Hermes, Bawden.

Linoleum print block 43cm X 43cm approx.

To be editioned on Acid free Canaletto and applied to linen/cotton mix for lamp shades and cushions.

Enid's Pots

Autumn 2017

Work in progress

A design you should be 'potty' about!

My love of social history is bound closely to the enjoyment I gain from English Craft & Folk Art. I am so inspired by the dedication that Artist Enid Marx gave in celebrating the value of popular English Art. This new design is an homage to her and to the objects we can learn so much from.

I smile whenever I imagine the the potter in North Devon in the late eighteenth century imagining the lions in this design.

Linoleum print block 45cm X 45cm approx.

To be editioned on Acid free Canaletto and applied to linen/cotton  for lamp shades and cushions.

BA HONS DEGREE IN FINE ART

1998

After completing my Diploma in Art and Design at Falmouth School of Art, I studied Graphic Fine Art at Kent Institute of Art and Design - Canterbury, gaining a First class honours degree. TEACHING

2000 - onwards

I have taught Fine Art full time since completing my PGCE in 2000. I currently teach Fine Art A Level at Truro College. I am fortunate enough to work with exciting, creative and enthusiastic young people everyday and the challenge of meeting their needs inspires my own practice daily.

EXHIBITIONS

1996 - onwards

I have taken part in many group exhibitions, exhibiting at Wimbledon Arts Center, Cork Street, Canterbury Art Gallery and Museum, The Artists Book Fair - London, Bucca Art Gallery - Newlyn and many more.

I am currently seeking positive and friendly representation from a range of South West Galleries for my newest body of work.
